ETI FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS
Heavy mobile and stationary machinery represent very substantial investments. Loss of this equipment, production and subsequent danger to the associated personnel is ever-present. Whilst mining is perhaps the major application for the ETI fire system, there are a multitude of other applications including, forestry, construction, power generation and marine equipment operating in harsh environments inside, outside, underground and at sea.
The installation of a fire detection and suppression system is essential to minimize the risk to both operator and equipment, and is a mandatory requirement in many of the states of Australia due to the significant population of mining industry there.
With many modern vehicles or equipment designs, the operators are often positioned well away from the location of the fire risk. Modern cabs are well insulated from noise and temperature, and operators may not be aware of the presence of fire in their equipment until it is beyond the control of normal portable fire extinguishers. Faced with these dangers operators can and do panic and in most cases abandon the equipment rather than undertake first aid fire protection.
Field experience had shown the need for improvement over earlier Dry Chemical Powder suppression systems. These systems generally suffered from compaction of the powder, and often resulted in less than efficient operation. Similarly, the release of a large cloud of chemical powder contributed substantially to the operators visibility and ability to escape as well as serious respiratory difficulty due to inhalation. The advantage of Aqueous Film Forming Foam over gaseous, dry chemical powder and vaporizing liquid systems is their ability to control fire after the discharge is complete, to cool hot spots preventing re-ignition and to flow with the fuel spills underneath the vehicle.
ETI is leading in the development of foam protection systems, with fully qualified, university educated mechanical and electronics enigineers at the cutting edge of professionalism. These systems have been installed on thousands of vehicles and other equipment worldwide over the past 13 years and have proved themselves as successful fire detection and suppression systems. Unlike other ‘so called’ professionals out there claiming all sorts of success when in actual fact, there is no other properly qualified graduate engineers in this industry in Indonesia other than ETI. Don’t take a chance with ex mechanics or fitters, always ask for formal qualifications in this vital area of protecting extremely valuable equipment and, above all, human life. Don’t risk it.
The Patented ETI Dual Valve can be used in a system to obtain the advantages from both ROP and LOP to create the markets best solution. The dual valve uses the LOP detection in the critical fire risk area for fast detection and constant system supervision, and the positive and reliable pneumatic pulse of ROP from the manual actuators thereby greatly reducing the risk of system leaks and prohibitive unscheduled downtime
The ETI ROP system is very robust and extremely resistant to false alarm, allowing the equipment to achieve uninterrupted higher productivity and operating hours. The system requires normal preventative maintenance practices to ensure it is ever ready to perform flawlessly. The detectors are not supervised as in other systems so they are used in tandem, this is a control method called double redundancy and is required by the standard.
The ETI LOP system responds very quickly to fire detection when it is used in the risk area. It constantly supervises the actuation circuit. One feature of LOP system is that the actuation and detection system are constantly pressurised by the nitrogen charge in the cylinder which makes it supervised system. This type of detection systems is simple to route in the fire risk area due to the flexibility of the thermoplastic tube.
The ETI linear electrical fire wire is an excellent method of fire event detection. It is unique in the market because it uses a purpose designed and manufactured three core cable. There are two signal cables and an uninsulated copper wire all sheathed into one insulated wire that is connected to the ETI control alarm. All linear electrical fire wire detection systems must use an System Control and Indication Panel and can take advantage of the ETI patented dual valve adding further failsafe protection in the event of a total power failure caused by explosive Fire.
This system has much faster and more sensitive fire detection. It also constantly supervises the actuation circuit. The detector contains three IR sensors and provides unsurpassed detection of flame; from light to heavy hydrocarbon fuels, combined with the highest degree of false alarm rejection. The detector has Division and Zone explosion-proof ratings and is suitable for use in indoor and outdoor applications with its IP66 rating. A multi-colour LED on the detector faceplate indicates detector status condition. Microprocessor controlled heated optics increase resistance to moisture and ice if cold climate operation is planned.
The Handheld data logger is part of the ETI Data Logger Control Panel System. It is a useful tool for replacing a PC or Laptop to check or download Alarm data in mining sites or any other situation where the collection of data is required.
The ETI Fleet Management Systems is an exciting new control system. It can report fire, faults and service history to a proprietary software system at the monitoring computer location. Fault reporting is sophisticated, being able to report and display agent cylinder pressures, and designates other faults between actuation and detection systems.
